Promoting Environmental Awareness among Students

Date: 19 October 2026
Venue: St. Kizito Rupert Primary School
Organized by: Chemchemi Integrated Development Centre (CIDC)

On 19 October 2026, Chemchemi Integrated Development Centre (CIDC) organized an inter-school competition at St. Kizito Rupert Primary School as part of the Season of Creation 2026 activities. Guided by the theme “Living Water,” the event aimed to promote environmental awareness among students and encourage responsible care for water resources and God's creation.

The competition brought together 57 students, with three students representing each of the 19 participating schools, accompanied by 19 teachers. The participating schools included 17 government schools and two private schools. The event provided a platform for students to showcase their talents, exchange ideas, and deepen their understanding of environmental conservation.

The activities included drawing, essay writing, and speech presentations, through which students expressed their ideas on environmental protection, the importance of water, and the responsibility of caring for God's creation. Students from St. Kizito Rupert Primary School also presented a special programme, adding joy and enthusiasm to the gathering.

As part of the environmental conservation initiative, one neem tree was distributed to each teacher representing the participating schools, encouraging them to promote tree planting within their respective school compounds. Additionally, three trees were planted at St. Kizito Rupert Primary School as a lasting reminder of the event and its commitment to environmental protection.

Outstanding students received gold, silver, and copper medals in recognition of their performances. All participating students and teachers were also presented with a book and a pen as a commemorative gift in appreciation of their involvement.

The event was a valuable opportunity for students and teachers to learn, share ideas, and strengthen their commitment to protecting water sources and the environment. Through creative activities and practical environmental initiatives, CIDC continues to encourage young people to become responsible stewards of God's creation. It is hoped that the knowledge and inspiration gained will extend beyond the school environment into families and communities, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.
