Kifaru Parish Celebrates the Sacrament of Confirmation for 85 Young People

Kifaru Parish, September 20, 2026 — Kifaru Parish was filled with joy and thanksgiving today as the parish community gathered to celebrate the Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Confirmation. During the celebration, 85 young people received the Sacrament of Confirmation, strengthened by the gift of the Holy Spirit to live and witness to their faith.
Among the newly confirmed were 71 students from Rupert Children’s Home, while the remaining candidates came from the various outstations and secondary schools of Kifaru Parish.
A Celebration of Faith and the Holy Spirit
The Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Apolinary Mshigwa, Rector of Chanjale Seminary, representing the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Same. He was joined by priests of the Parish including Fr. Hilary Lobo, Parish Priest, Fr. Joseph Rodrigues, Fr. Victor Machado, and Fr. Alwyn D’Souza.
Faithful from all the outstations of Kifaru Parish came together for this important celebration. Students from St. Kizito-Rupert Primary School, Kifaru Secondary School, Kileo Secondary School, and Jipe Secondary School also participated in the Holy Mass, making the celebration a joyful expression of the unity and faith of the parish community.
Called to Live as Witnesses of Christ
In his message to the newly confirmed, Fr. Apolinary encouraged them to remain faithful to the promises they had made and to allow the Holy Spirit to guide their lives.
He reminded them that receiving Confirmation is not simply the completion of a period of preparation, but a new beginning in their Christian journey. Strengthened by the Holy Spirit, they are called to be strong soldiers of Jesus Christ, witnessing to their faith through their daily lives, their words, their actions, and their service to others.
The newly confirmed were encouraged to remain close to Jesus, to participate actively in the life of the Church, and to become witnesses of Christ wherever they live, study, and work.
A Joyful Moment for Kifaru Parish
The celebration was a beautiful moment of prayer, thanksgiving, and renewal of faith for the entire Kifaru Parish community. Parents, teachers, priests, religious, catechists, and parishioners shared in the joy of seeing these young people take an important step forward in their Christian journey.
As a parish community, we give thanks to God for the gift of the Holy Spirit and for the 85 young people who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
May the Holy Spirit strengthen them in faith, hope, and love, and may they always remain faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ.
